Three new satellites constructed at Boeing will provide the space infrastructure for Global Xpress, Inmarsat's broadband of the future, offering speed, quality and service at a new level.
To provide the space infrastructure for the Global Xpress network, three new Inmarsat-5 satellites are under construction at Boeing, based on its flight-proven 702HP platform.
The Inmarsat-5 satellites will provide customers with a comprehensive range of global mobile satellite services, including high-resolution video, quality voice and high-speed data.
The first satellite, I-5 F1, was successfully launched in 2013, providing coverage over Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The second satellite will cover Asia-Pacific and full global coverage is currently planned for mid 2015.
